| Kimber's post about the tornado in Manhattan inspired me to give an update on our crazy weather here, as well. We had really bad storms in South Eastern Michigan on Sunday. The power went out at the church building on Sunday afternoon, right after we had finished our basket dinner. We were already in the basement, but the tornado sirens went off soon after. The news reports said that we had winds going over 100 mph and that the storms left over 200,000 people without power. We didn't have any property damage at the church building or at the house, but a giant tree did fall across the road to our house. By the time we got home from church on Sunday evening, the tree had already been cut up and moved, but I'm sure it was inconvenient for a lot of people on our road. We lost power at the house on Sunday afternoon and didn't get it back until late yesterday (Wednesday) afternoon. It is pretty interesting to me, all of the little things that we take for granted, like being able to turn on a light in a dark room, charge a cell phone, flush a toilet, and take a shower. They aren't things you think about that much in your daily life until you can't do any of them without electricity. God kept us safe throughout the storms, and I am thankful for that, and for things getting back to normal.
When our weather gets to be pretty intense, it makes me think of when Jesus calmed the storm at sea: Mt 8: 23-27 23Then he got into the boat and his disciples followed him. 24Without warning, a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. 25The disciples went and woke him, saying, "Lord, save us! We're going to drown!" 26He replied, "You of little faith, why are you so afraid?" Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm. 27The men were amazed and asked, "What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!"
Pretty amazing stuff. We serve an awesome God!
| It has been quite a while since I last posted, so I thought I would give an update. I'm back home now for the summer after the craziest semester of my college career. For me, college was like high school in that my junior year was the busiest. I was taking sixteen credit hours and pretty much had two jobs, between being the Miller Food Board Manager and working for Hilltop with the before and after school program. There was also a National Championship in there. That was probably a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and I was glad to be in Lawrence for it.
This picture was taken when we watched the championship game at Allen Fieldhouse. I have uploaded videos up from the field house and from the welcome back celebration at the stadium, but when I tried to post them a while back, they never worked. You can check those out, if you want to. Anyway, it was a great semester, but I am glad to be done.
For those of you who don't know, this was my last semester in Miller. Kylee, Jenna, and I will be living in an apartment next fall, which I am really excited about. I think it is pretty funny that three ladies with blue eyes and blond curly hair are all living under the same roof. It is going to be a good time. However, I was sad to say goodbye to Miller and to lovely Lilac Lane.
Kylee and I had such a good view of Lawrence from our room in Miller.
But apartment life will be a new adventure with two great friends, however, it would be much better if Fenae could live with us too!
Now that I am home, I have had a good time hanging out with the fam. Celeste's Pops concert was last week, which was really good. Celeste sang "Taylor the Latte Boy." This is a link to the video of Kristin Chenoweth singing it, but Celeste did a great job playing up the song and still sounding beautiful. Taylor the Latte Boy
Charity messed up her knee last weekend and was on crutches all week, so I went out to help her with the kids on Wednesday, and that was a good time. I got to see Alex's first baseball game of the season, as well. Thursday was Celeste's prom, so Mom and I helped her get ready for that.
Yesterday, Celeste and I went over to William and Shannon's for a game night, which is always a good time. I introduced them all to Buzzword, which is a fantastic game, if you have never played.
Well, that's all for now. Have a fabulous weekend, everyone!

| Thank you, everyone, for your prayers for Crystal. She is doing better and she did not have to have surgery today because she doesn't have appendicitis, she either has Crones disease or an intestinal infection. The doctors have told her that she should be able to come back home tomorrow.
My grandpa Evans went in for some tests today that they told him he has to get a pace maker. His heart rate has been much too low and they are trying to fix that, so he will be having surgery at 6:00 am. Please keep him in your prayers.
